Septembre Lewis Interviews Shante Duncan
Founder | S.H.E.E.R.A.H. | St. Louis, MO
How do I become my best self? How do we break down these stereotypes that exist against us, especially that says as black women we can't get along? That says that we are designed to have beef and compete for men? S.H.E.R.A.H. exist to expel all of those stereotypes. We are not each other's enemy. We are actually reflections of each other. If I can love me, I definitely can love you. And because I love me, I do love you. Shante Duncan
Good evening and welcome to the Golden Mind Show. I hope that January is wrapping up beautifully for you guys. Today, we have, Shante Duncan, the founder of S.H.E.R.A.H. (Sisters Helping Each Other Reach A Higher Height) I actually met her community impact before I met her, believe it or not. That’s how it should be. You want your work to speak so loudly that it introduces it itself…amazing.
Before we are enlightened with her interview, I want to share an encouraging word with you.
Currently, I am reading "How to Develop Self-Confidence and Influence People by Public Speaking", written by Dale Carnegie and it had this dazzling excerpt; It spoke so loudly to my soul. It is as follows:
"Let no man have anxiety about the upshot of his education, whatever the line of it may be. If he keeps faithfully busy each hour of the working day, he may safely leave the final result to itself. He can, with perfect certainty, wake up some fine morning to find himself one the competent ones of his generation, in whatever pursuit he may have singled out.
All to often we are concerned with the outcome of our journey, but I love this excerpt as it encourages us to not focus on the outcome, but to live day-to-day FULLY, expecting life to give us what we have given it and then some. Keep waking up with your mind positively saturated, focused and determined to leave a legacy and life will render itself to you. It will have no choice.

Sometimes all the pieces aren’t together, but we have to keep moving forward anyway, right? And typically even when faced with fear, we find ourselves saying that wasn’t so bad. Shante has an amazing journey, I think you’ll find it helpful to listen to her story, empowering us to move pass our fears and allow our lives to be the voice of reason, the voice of change in our local and worldwide communities.
Shante lives in St. Louis, MO with her husband and children. She is a transformational personality and dynamic speaker who can also be dubbed a passionate social justice advocate. She has written articles and/ or edited for several local newspapers, and magazines. She is a freelance journalist/activist...

-Balancing Family and Career
-Natural Family Living
Shante is also known as “Mama Life” believing that mother is her first and most important role as a human being and that mama’ is synonymous with teacher, spirit guide and leader. She challenges the notion that men are the natural leaders of tribes, families and households, reminds us to re-examine the role of women in antiquity and advocates for a new and balanced power sharing model especially in our post slavery/ modern circumstances.
