You have to take care of yourself.
The way society is set up, we feel like anything involved with the 'self' is selfish. People say things like, "you only thing about yourself,""it's all about you, huh?"
You know what I say to that, "SO WHAT!" Don't get me wrong, I love to help people during a time of need. It brings me great joy to lend a helping hand. GIVING is what I do, hence Bre's Umbrella. But during the times, when I have let that hand get injured and damaged without repairing it ... then lending it again has brought me great dismay. Now I have learned (the hard way, unfortunately) that I have to take care of Bre. It has taken me a long time to get to this point, but you absolutely HAVE to invest in yourself. You have to spend dedicated time - DAILY, building yourself.
If you don't, you'll become drained, fatigue, lost, or worst - ridden with disease and death. It doesn't necessarily have to be death of the body. So many of us are walking around with a case of death of the mind. In the words of Les Brown, "walking dead people."
No sense in reaching such a point, all I'm asking you to do, is with all thy giving, give to yourself first. Increase your relationship with God. Spend reflective and quiet time alone.
My brother, my sister - oh how infamous and overrated this line is, but will forever ring true - IN ORDER TO TAKE CARE OF OTHERS, YOU MUST FIRST TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF.
